Jennifer Uhl, J2RC Artistic Director, has presented hundreds of performances, lectures, demonstrations and special modern dance events to the public over the decades throughout New York, Michigan, and New England. Along the way Jennifer, now Professor Emeritus of Dance, earned the Massachusetts Governor’s Award with four other professors in the Creative Arts. Before permanently returning to her New England home, she also served as Artistic Director for the Morningside Dance Festival in Manhattan. Under its auspices, Jennifer created several different modern dance concerts showcasing the work of dozens of other choreographers chosen through juried selection. Presented annually at the Theater of the Riverside Church, these collective performances consistently drew large audiences, and were each reviewed by respected publications. After 30 years, Jennifer is revamping J2RC to build a similar cultural model in Massachusetts.
Jennifer received a B.A. in Philosphy from Colby College and an M.F.A. in Modern Dance Choreography and Performance at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She went on to earn a second Masters Degree and a Doctorate at Columbia University in NYC and taught there for several years. Dr. Uhl is also a Certified Movement Analyst from the Laban Institute in Manhattan.
