Artistic Statement

Modern dance choreographers typically work with a company of their own dancers and often within a fairly well established movement technique and/or choreographic method, some having honed their own vocabulary over time. I have never quite approached it in that same way. I have never quite wanted to. For me, the choreographic process rarely emanates from a movement idea. It is more of a conceptualization. Every idea different from the last, many of which cross over into other media, but remain firmly rooted in the modern dance realm that I know and love so well. For me this is the most satisfying way to develop projects and create work.
